Florida Everglades Animals And Plants
What are some suggestions for getting rid of invasive species of plants and animals?
In the Everglades pythons that were released into the wild have become a problem and in other areas of Florida, Ghambian rats are increasing in number and could have an adverse affect to the natural balance of the eco-system of which they are not native to.
In some situations, biological controls are appropriate. If you can find a viral disease, or a parasite, or a predator, that affects ONLY your invasive pest and not the indigenous species, then you can try releasing that into the environment.
The other option is to offer a “bounty” for kills. Putting a price of, say, $5 for every head turned in will inspire a lot of people to pick up their BB guns and go hunting.
