Miami Area Golf Courses

Why do the rich in gated communities like to hide from the poor and middle class?
You should see it here in Florida with the gated communities. Tampa Bay area, Naples (especially Naples!), Miami, Palm Beach, etc. What is it with the hiding thing. The hidden golf courses, etc. I notice that they even send out nannies to do the grocery shopping. We really live in a divided society down here. More divided than most folks even imagine.
Wow. Some people got really defensive on this one. we are a country strictly divided by class. We are not as united as we think.
kurtbiewald is really the only one so far that touched upon the deep psychological reasons behind this.
Most, not all because of generalizing, rich people seperate themselves from the poorer citizens of America because of a couple reasons:
1) They don’t want us middle-class citizens to “steal” their money. Many rich people wrongfully beleive we are living only to take away their property and investments.
2) Others seperate from society because they are driven by greed and want to keep everything for themselves: “Why should we make those poorer people happy? They should work harder to get money!” In fact, many wealthy citizens in America get their property from a lucky bounce. For example, you invest 100,000 $ in a stock which shoots through the roof. (like gas mask companies right after 9/11)
3) However, the main reason for them seperating from us “lower class citizens” is because they actually believe they are better than we are. Therefore, they think: “why should we see the poorer citizens?” When you noticed that they ‘even send out nannies to do the grocery shopping’, that is the epitome of the arrogance of many wealthy people in America. They don’t want even mingle with “petty-folk” like ourselves. Although they may have wealth in money, they lack wealth in morals.
