Why You Should Choose Florida for Your Next Holiday

When talking to your travel agent about your next holiday, or browsing the web for ideas, chances are that you’ve come across the notion of going to Florida. Chances also are that if you weren’t keen on the idea of going to any of the traditional holiday spots then you have already discounted it from your list of possible destinations. If this is the case then you might want to reconsider as Florida isn’t just for families and has a lot more to offer than just Disneyworld and the Everglades.

Florida is bigger than most people realise – with 16 million citizens and 170,000 square kilometres of land it’s as large as many countries and, just like any country, is chock full of a huge variety of different cultures, activities, traditions and sights to take in.

If sun and sand is your thing, then you ought to enjoy Florida’s 1500 kilometres of beaches. Florida’s western Panhandle is home to a number of white sand beaches and some of the finest beach locations in the United States. If you’re feeling a bit more adventurous you could stay with the Panhandle and experience some of the state’s best canoeing, or take a trip to the Florida Keys to enjoy world class fishing.

If you like the nightlife and fine dining, head for South Beach and sample some of its international flavour, with Italian delis, Spanish tapas and German bier gardens all within easy reach. Soak up the sun and spend, spend, spend in its fashionable shopping areas during the day and then head for the Beach’s famous clubs and bars that are open to the wee hours of the morning along Washington Avenue.

If you’re more intrigued by the state’s history, a visit to the state’s capital, Tallahassee, with a number of fine museums, as well as to the famous Suwannee River, is a must. Similarly Jacksonville, the US’ oldest inhabited city, is not to be missed and also the city also houses the oldest marine park in the country. Heading further south will also land you in Brevard Country, where you can visit NASA’s Kennedy Space station and learn all about man’s history of space travel and what the future holds for NASA.

Whatever it is you’re looking for in a holiday abroad, Florida is sure to offer it to you. Whether it’s time with the family, learning about Florida’s history, immersing yourself in the state’s culture, dancing the night away in its clubs, or simply dreaming your days away stretched out on one of its fabulous beaches, you’re bound to find countless activities to fill your days with, so be sure to book your flights to Florida as soon as possible and get out there to see what Florida has in store for you.
